Is there an easier way to access the SD card slot for Updates?

19 Oct 2020, 03:55

Trying to update my firmware and having to open my system every time get tiring after a while.
Are they any solutions, like modified lids and etc?

I just use one of these and leave it inside of my Saturn lid. Works like a charm for a quick, cheap solution. Otherwise, there are some custom mounts in the work, but those will obviously be more expensive.

This is great, thanks! I didn't even realize such a device existed.

That is a damn good idea!
BTW Do you use the SD card or SSD hard drive for your console?
I'm curious about loading speed between the two, since both are infinitely faster than 1-2x CD drive

I use an SD card. I haven't used an SSD. From what I've read, the speeds between an SD card and SSD are identical. There's only so fast the Saturn can get the data and an SD card and SSD both exceed that speed, so the speed the Saturn takes it should be the same whether using an SD card or SSD.

RE: Sega Dreamcast MODE 3d Printed tray mount & Sega Saturn MODE 3d Printed tray mount

There is an Ebay seller in the UK called coaster2k selling just what you and many MODE Owners may need:

Sega Dreamcast MODE 3D Printed tray mount

Link: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sega-Dreamca ... SwpYhfVicn

Sega Saturn Fenrir/MODE 3D Printed tray mount

Link: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sega-Saturn- ... SwuhNfKZXp

I have ordered a Sega Dreamcast MODE 3D Printed tray mount in Black from this seller myself, and it is a perfect fit.

BTW The seller also does these trays in different colours, also has a Black Dreamcast Tray version WITHOUT the SD Card Expansion Slot.
Select the last option in the drop-down list in the first link provided - Black (Blank) NO MicroSD

Hope this helps you and many others alike!
