Or, just freeze with black screen.

It's reproducible.

info
hardware : early saturn (first model)
game version: Japanese version
ripping software: ImgBurn (cue + bin)

Do you have any information for this?

About how many minutes? I have a first model Japanese 20 pin Saturn and have a rip of X-men so I tried it. I played for a few matches and then let it run on the attract mode but didn't have any issues.

I was using the US version of the game, which might make a difference.

about 5mins to 10mins (2 or 3 stages). This error often shows after victory message.

Ok, I played for longer than that with no issues. So I dont know if this issue is peculiar to the Japanese version of the game or whether your rip is bad. Or whether it's something else entirely. Sorry I couldn't help more, but maybe th as t helps provide some background when someone smarter than me weighs in.

Are you using the redump image of this game?

There are a lot of bad Saturn images out there. We suggest sticking with redump.

I ripped the CD-ROM myself with ImgBurn.

And It seems that X-Men vs Street Fighter has the same issue.
The game also can boot but reset to the bios while playing a few minutes.

This error shows before returning to the bios.

my md5 is here.
$ cat xmen.md5 | grep bin

I tried to play these 2 games on the original CD-ROM drive with original CD-ROMs.
It works very very fine. No problem.
So, my saturn and the CD-ROMs are not problem. maybe.

So, It could be
1. MODE still has some problem with ImgBurn generated .cue+bin.
2. Some power supplying or wiring problem on my environment

But I think no.2 might not be the case.
Because I checked 92 games (my collection) on this environment without issues.

Self ripped games could always be the issue. We suggest sourcing the Redump image set for it.

I just booted up Children of the Atom to give this a try. I played for about 15 minutes and then just let the game run for an additional 20 minutes to play by itself and it worked fine. I'm using the redump image on a Model 2, 21-Pin Saturn with a 128GB Sandisk microSD card.

I bought a PX-755A drive and created redump image set along this guide.

http://wiki.redump.org/index.php?title= ... de_(DICUI)

md5 hashes are the same as this page.

http://redump.org/disc/3667/

But the result was the same. This error showed and returned to the bios menu (force reset).
