Tape your ribbon cable to the metal shield.

I am having this same issue - a loud crackling sound when there is music playing in-game. I tested Panzer Dragoon (USA) & Virtua Fighter 2 (USA) from the redump set. The firmware update has not fixed the problem.
I have a similar issue. My MODE does not play CDDA tracks. Sound effects and music in pre-rendered cutscenes come out fine. Neodev at the Discord server was kind enough to provide me with a retrogressed FW and yet there was no change.

Saturn Model 2
CD Drive: JVC EXL P605

Currently on (retrogressed) 1.02 / FPGA version: BB74

That hasn’t had any effect. It’s still crackly.

Yup, I'm having the same issue too. I'm getting sound but with crackling static. Funny thing is it's mainly during game play. Games with cut scenes have perfect audio during those scenes. Updated the firmware and it did nothing. I'm going to replace the ribbon cable although I don't think it will help. I was planning to do a complete recap so... I'll see what happens after that.

Damm even I am having a similar kind of issue, I have searched all over the internet and even have posted on number of threads on different forum, no solution seems to work. I am really frustrated, can anyone of you here help me resolve this issue, I am very much tired now.

Just started testing games now that I have a few days off. I'm getting the same issue with static noise. Using redump and non-redump files. MCU 01.02 R10

Its variable between games. Some have static sounds so loud it drowns out the music, others it's very faint and some have no static sound at all.

If you'd like I cant start testing game by game.

Same here on my 21 pin Saturn.
Using the latest firmware.

Taping ribbon cable to the shield did nothing.

I report the same noise problem; This occurs only with some games. It is a type of static that prevents you from playing well, it completely dulls the original sound of the game. I have tried multiple games and cables for the audio connection but it does not improve; happened to me so far with metal slug and alien trilogy

My Saturn is playing games fine after replacing the power supply with a PicoPSU. Not the best solution, as it means spending more money, but it might help someone.
