Mega SD: how to organize the folders

06 Jul 2019, 23:16

Hi

i would like to buy this fantastic card. I have a question about how to organize the folders.
Well, i suppose that i have to put directly in the root a folder named "bios" and inside this folder i will put the bios files of megacd (pal-usa-jap).
After that, i have to create for example a folder form megadrive roms, another folde rfor megacd games and another one for master system roms? Or have i to put all the games in the same generic folder, named for example "roms"?

Last question: is it possible to view separately games of Master system from Megadrive and Mega CD?

thank you!

Yes. Create a bios folder for your bios images.

As far as organizing your games, we highly recommend using folders. However you are free to organize them however you like.

I personally create a folder on the root of the SD card called "CD Games" another "Mega Drive roms" and another "SMS".

Organize your games in there as you see fit and you are good to go.

perfect, i'm agree with you.
4 folders: bios, Megadrive, MegaCD, MasterSystem

Is it possible to visualize separately the games of MS, MD and megaCD in the menu of the MegaSD? Or are they visualized all toghter?

thanks

The MegaSD menu structure uses the folders you created. So if you navigate into a folder with just Mega Drive games, that’s all you will see.

Also, to the left of each games name in the menu is a icon representing what kind of game it is. CD, MD, 32X, SMS and MD+

Also, for CD games I highly recommend keeping the CD games count low on each directory, as scanning them is slow. I'd try to keep around 100 CD games in a single directory so you don't have to wait too long to scan them (it takes around 3 seconds to scan 100 cd games in a directory). This is because the firmware needs to enter each directory and check if there is a cue file to mark is as a CD game, or as a folder otherwise. I have them in subfolders (A-D, E-K, L-P...)

I recommend Sandisk Ultra. With SSDS3 we noticed that Samsung Evo + cards have some issues. They randomly, after around 10 minutes become slower for around 2 seconds, and then continue working fine. , that's noticeable on audio tracks as they seem to play slower for 2 or 3 seconds, but if it happens during video playback, it can cause glitches.
