Add SegaCD BIOS

12 Aug 2019, 23:46

Where do you go to add a bios file? Each time i add a bios file, it still says there is no Sega CD bios file when i try to play a sega cd game.

You need to first create a folder on the micro sd card that your using called BIOS.

You then put your Sega cd and mega cd bios files in there.

Once you've placed your bios files in the folder you then open the options on the mega sd and go to select sega cd bios files.

You then select the relevant bios files for each county, EU, jap etc.

Once youve set them up your all set, you only need to do it once. Its recommended to use the bios 2.00 files if you have them.

Much appreciated. I looked around but didn't see how to setup the BIOS anywhere. Thanks.

My MegaSD isn't recognizing any of the BIOS files I have on my SD card, except for the JVC X'Eye for some reason. (My Analogue Mega SG can read these BIOS files just fine when applying them to my physical Sega CD hardware.) Do they need to have specific names to be recognized? They're in a /bios folder. I tried renaming them but that got me nowhere. Thanks for any help.

They can have any name, megasd will identify then by their header. You can try several things:
- ensure there are no other garbage files in the bios folder. Just leave a bios file of each region there.
- check that file names are not too long
- check that the extension is .md

Nope, I took the last post's advice and am still completely stuck. I currently have a /BIOS folder with only three files:

US_Model_1.md
EU_Model_1.md
JP_Model_1.md

(all originally ending with .bin, changed as per the previous suggestion)

and when trying to pick out a BIOS in the options menu, I can't select any of them. Again, all three of these files work fine with Analogue's Mega SG connected to physical Sega CD model 1 hardware. The only file that my MegaSD likes is that JVC X'Eye bios! What else am I looking for at this point?

Watch this setup video, you’re not doing something right.

Make life easier and source some different bios files.

Okay, that did the trick. I'm now on 2.0 for USA, however, and will use this opportunity to point out some audio glitching with CD audio on multiple games. I only tested USA CD games at this point, but both Final Fight and Eternal Champions exhibited consistent CD audio glitching every 15-18 seconds, for about 1/3 a second, a sort of 'gngngngng' sound of the audio catching. Is this a known issue? I haven't seen that reported elsewhere, sorry if I missed it in my searching. I'm on the latest MegaSD firmware + latest Analogue Mega SG firmware.
