I'm trying to run the game with the cd audio, but I keep getting a red screen once the Pier Solar rom loads. I ripped a bin/cue from the original cd and placed it in the same folder as the pier solar rom. Any ideas?

EDIT: Nevermind. I fixed it.
What ended up being the problem?
Well... to be truthful I simply downloaded a different Pier Solar ROM from the internet. The ROM I originally had was ripped directly from my copy of the game using Retrode. I noticed my copy was 4 MB in size, but the one I downloaded from the internet was 8 MB. So there is obviously something different with the one I downloaded, but it works.

There might be some trick to how to extract the data. I recall when it was released, they were concerned about the (at that time) current ability of duplication, and there was some discussion about how to protect it while still being playable (but I don’t know what was done, if anything actually was done).

How did you setup your folder & cue? The first track is digital and says please insert the cart, does one replace the track 1 with cart image?

You want to have both the cart's .md rom image AND the bin/cue for the disc together in the same directory - the MegaSD will recognize that as signifying an MD+ game. Don't replace the disc's data track; I'm reasonably certain that's the part of the disc Pier Solar is actually looking for.

Maybe I'm not using the right bin/cue file. But I'm still having problems getting this one to work. Any pointers? Is there still a good place to download the music files?

Grab the one from the Redump set, and put it in its own folder with the Pier Solar ROM (I use the ones from the No-Intro set) but use only one Pier Solar ROM - if you have multiple ROMs in the same directory as the BIN/CUE it won't work.

Hey Todd, was this addressed already?
Not sure if I should wait for the next firmware or tinker until I make it work

If works fine. Not sure what else needs to be addressed.

Well, it is not working for me actually, trying to figure out why...
I have been changing bios images, regions, roms...
In all these tests I think I found a bug, when selecting the game from the menu in the loading screen I get a "Mapper 21" thing with no CD audio.
When I select Load Last Game it shows "Mapper 10" with CD audio but glitched character sprites, the first line of the sprite is weird.
This happened using Japanese Bios 1.0, with Bios 2.0 it asks for the insertion of the cd when the game loads.
"Auto booting last game" doesn't show the "Mapper 21" but acts as if it is (no cd audio, no sprite glitches)

Should I report it somewhere else or is this the right place?
Would you like a video of this scenario?

I'm on Firmware 01.04 R09
