I think I found a timming issue with the arcade card emulation that seems to affect a small number of consoles (the ones that are especially noisy). I need to have a deep look at the acard processing to try to solve it and filter noise. Acard is very sensitive to glitchy accesses because address is modified every access, so if a glitch happens, thr address is mistakenly incremented and data goes to wrong positions
That's great to know.
Do you have any news to share? It's a blocking issue for those using Coregrafx..

As we approach a year after the last update on this... any progress on fixing the arcade card emulation, or at least a way to disable it to actually use real arcade cards to bypass the current glitches?

Also, the issues are not related to the more noisy consoles like neodev suggested August 2019, they happen all the same on the least noisy ones (SuperGrafx).

PC Engine model: Core Grafx I
Power Supply: TRIAD
Video cable: SCART RGB (SEGA Mega Drive 2 RGC)
SD card brand: SanDisk 400GB
Region modded?: No
Jailbar Fix: Yes (MST)
SSDS3 Revision 1, 2 or B?: Blue PCB
In Game Trigger enabled in the Options menu?: OFF
Enable Arcade Card:: OFF

Problem or Issue:

Ranma 1/2 (Japan)

Blurpy audio / freezing when fighting a particular enemy throughout the game. Him executing his attacks causes the blurpy glitched out noises to happen. Changing gender or going through particular cutscenes when this happens freezes the game completely.

Chapter 3 is when it occurs and there is a password to get to the point.

Image

Shampoo (Purple hair buns)
Kunou (Blue robe)
Panda (Panda legs)

in the KAO Pass screen.

I've tested the game on emulation and did not have the problem. Using the Redump dump.

Update: Reripped the game with Turbo Rip. I don't think it's a CUE sheet problem.

When you go into particular shops and exit. You'll hear other audio that's not supposed to be played. Didn't happen to me on Mednafen. I'm wondering if it's the same problem that's affecting Ranma 1/2.

That does happen on Mednafen and other emulators when the speed is set to "fast" and the shop is exited quickly.
This is related to CD head seek timing not being observed.

Just got a new SSDS3 through Stohe Age Gamer. It is being used with a TG-16 with the original power supply for the Turbografx CD. There is no region mod. Revision of the SSDS3 is B. In game trigger is off.

If I try to use my real American System card 3.0, all CD games are corrupted, including games that do not require the 3.0 extra memory, such as Sidearms Special and Buster Bros. (Sidearms Special is not corrupted until the second screen.) The American System 3.0 card works fine when I use a real Turbografx CD and a real CD of Sidearms Special. A 2.0 system card works fine with the SSDS3 as well (on the games that don't need the 3.0 extra memory).

I've also been getting intermittent corruption on Sidearms Special. Sometimes it doesn't show up until the boss. I tried again a couple of times and it didn't happen so I don't know what triggered it. It works fine under Retroarch Mednafen PCE fast.

It turns out that my SSDS3 is incompatible with my green diving board adapter to play PCE games on a TG-16. I had thought the adapter was just broken, but I tried it without the SSDS3 and it worked the first time I tried.

Can this be fixed? Is it related to the problem with my American System 3.0 card not working?
