Re: SSSD3 CD file format tips

If the original was spec'd at 850mA I am sure the original 800mA is sufficient. At some point I will measure the current drawn by the SSDS3. I just tend to uprate current to 1 / 1.5A, and REDUCE voltage. A lot of PSUs out there (even when they say 9V) measure 10 to 14v. Megadrive PSUs are a no no imo. The nearer to 9v you get the less heat dumped by the 7805 into the board and surrounding chips.

You need to measure voltage with a load appiled or those old PSUs will all output higher voltages by just measuring them with a multimeter.

I had a Sony 9V PSU which measured 14V without a load, but 9ish Volts while working with my Mega Drive 2.

Well..

I got a new power supply rated to 1,.2A and a faster memory card...

Visually, the output has improved... But I can't seem to get any of the CD images I generated (via turborip or cdrdao) to run properly?

I get an endlessly flashing LED.

The 240P_test_suite doesn't run the first time after I reset after trying to load my images. If I reset and try again, it seems to run. There is some visual noise on the menu screen but mostly gone afterwards. Going through the tests, they seem to run reliably.

I guess my next step will be to try and get an image differently and test against that.

Edit: Okay, a downloaded version of CD image (this one cue/iso) worked. So the issue seems to be how I'm ripping the games. TurboRip isn't working, nor is the configuration I'm using for CDRDAO.

2nd Edit: Okay, so I've been trying to rip with my Mac. Using TurboRip in a VM running Win7 w/exclusive DVD drive access and CDRDAO running on natively in OSX. It seems like there must have been something not quite right with reading the CD at the end of the day. I pulled out an old laptop Mac laptop running XP in bootcamp, and it was able to use TurboRip to rip an image of a disk that is playable in the SuperSD System. I'll go ahead and rip away.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Hm. Proving a bit harder than I thought to get some of these dumps.

Would someone mind, via PM, helping me to locate cue-version dumps of the games not found in the redump set? I have a number of games I can only seem to locate ccd format dumps of.

Either that or teach me how to find TurboRip. The author said he had to take it down, and then the other download pages I found set off my virus warnings. Once I manage to get it, what’s the actual process to turn a ccd format rip into a cue format one?

The Rondo of Blood Patch on Rom Hacking dot Net contains a copy of TurboRip in it's package.
