So yeah, get rid of that post in the center of your SuperGrafx's lower case shell thingy if you didn't already. No point in risking that expensive thing over a stupid design flaw that NEC shouldn't have made.
Read about it in the past but didnt see any mark on the board from this post so hadnt trimmed it. I just did :D Just a couple of mm should be enough, doesnt need to be all the way down.

Good. It can supposedly destroy the system. I generally don't approve of modding vintage hardware in general, especially destructive mods, but this is a huge exception.

Edit: and this is getting pretty off-topic.

And still no definite answer.... is it safe to use SSD3 and RGB mod (amplifier) or is it one or the other?

Yeah, it seems safe. Might cause video interference, but it does not seem like it will break or damage anything.
