Re: Region free 32X console

To play NTSC 32X games on PAL consoles, both the Mega Drive and the 32X will need to be switched / modded. Having the Mega Drive set to 60Hz while the 32x is still running at 50Hz causes the screen to roll and will be unplayable.

Re: 60hz pal megadrive ?

As long as it's wired for RGB, that's perfect. And yeah sure, that is certainly a quick fix for some 60Hz gaming and if you feel compelled to do the switchless mod in future, the option is there. With MegaSD, there won't be much you can't play.

Re: 60hz pal megadrive ?

This mod would be fine if you don't mind having a console that is permanently impersonating a Genesis. There are a few things to consider though. A PAL console outputting in 60Hz will only give a colour image over RGB, if using RF or composite you will get black & white. The console will only work w...

Re: Would really like to play Shining Force CD, but...

I'm using the beta fw and I've got saves from SFCD books 1 & 2 (not got as far as books 3 & 4 yet). So I have 2 saves at 99 blocks each, the Mega CD BIOS save manager shows 310 blocks cartridge memory remaining. That's more than enough for the last two saves. So far so good, I'll update if I get to ...

Re: Backing-up Save RAM from Original CD Hardware.

I've retired my model 1 CD machine for the same reason. You will also find with Sonic CD that just having RAM Cart to save the game will not help either. Even with the cart inserted, the game shows a screen with Robotnik warning you that the consoles save memory is full and you cannot continue. I do...

Re: Backing-up Save RAM from Original CD Hardware.

I have a Retrode 2 and an official Backup RAM cart. Whilst the hardware itself should be capable of reading and dumping the cart, it seems that the current firmware does not support it, the cart is just recognised as a generic ROM. Also, those modern multi-carts from Retro-Bit etc (ie the Super R-Ty...

Re: Sonic & Knuckles “no way”

Awesome, glad it should be easy to fix. For the meantime, I've just added a few blank bytes to the end of the ROM and it's working.

Re: Sonic & Knuckles “no way”

It's the same for me. The original cartridge (which the ROM I used was ripped from) works just fine. This is behaving in the same way as when you connect any random, non-Sonic cartridge to the original Sonic & Knuckles. If you hit A+B+C together, you can play a level of the blue-sphere bonus stage. ...

Re: Importing Sega CD saves from the EDX7 to the MegaSD

I think you would have to try something like this, but I don't have a EDX7 to try it out, so bare with me; 1. Insert your EDX7 into your console for use as your Sega CD RAM Cart, insert a game disc into your Sega CD Console . 2. Begin to load the CD, but before it boots press any button other than s...

Re: Snatcher loading problem

I've been playing now for the last week and gotten to the endgame in spite of the issue. It's not limited to just the Turbocycle and Old Factory sequences, it happens fairly frequently throughout the whole game. Anytime the actions prompts do not appear, you need to wait an indeterminate amount of t...
